Snowboarding now has more than 30 glorious years under its snowy belt, and our sport certainly wouldn't be where it is today if new and daring kids hadn't consistently done their thing to turn the scene upside down with fresh styles and limitless motivation. So it is absolutely normal for the superstars of today to hand over the reins to the shredders of tomorrow at safe and secure intervals, thereby ensuring that snowboarding not only stays alive, but also continuously further develops accordingly. We can now welcome three ballsy and talented young guys with the stuff to continue this legacy right away at Planet Sports. With 16-year-old Linus Birkendahl from Starnberg (Germany), considered Germany's no. 1 youngblood boarder and top hope for the 2014 Olympics, 19-year-old Moritz Neuhäussler from Miesbach (Germany), who everyone is talking about as a jib specialist on all rails and boxes, and 14-year-old Tim-Kevin Ravnjak from Velenje (Slovenia), who will be taken under the wings of none other than our team member and Burton Pro, Marko Grilc, and is already seen as the next big name in the game, we have laid an important foundation stone for the brand new Planet Sports Snow Rookie Team, which promotes young talent and will also secure the sport's development for the next 30 years. To this end our experienced Pro Team with icons such as Eero Ettala, Torstein Horgmo or Silli Mittermüller, for example, will guide the "next generation", and not only accompany it with tricks and the like, but will also be on hand for advice and actions in business matters. With professional support like this, pretty much nothing can go wrong, and there'll be plenty to hear from Linus, Moritz, Tim-Kevin and other Planet Sports Rookies. So let's just say, welcome on "board" guys - let's get it on!
Who from the distant Norway comes gets a talent for snowboarding almost in the cradle, but on the other hand must inevitably step behind the great footsteps of icons such as Torstein Horgmo or the unforgettable Terje Haakonsen.
Silje Norendal is a young woman which almost seems a playful approach to this heritage.
While other girls were playing with dolls or riding a bike without supporting wheels for the first time, the sweet Silje, at the tender age of 4 years, had already started snowboarding on the stormy slopes of Norway.
Since 1999 participates in international events between Strandafjellet and Lake Tahoe, and at the young age of 18 years is almost something like a veteran in the contest circuit.
Not without a reason has she won the silver medal at the Winter X Games as well as a place between the exclusive Planet Sports team.
We are incredibly happy about this top-class newcomer and also Torstein can be happy about his Norwegian teammate, which will twist the guys not only due to her snowboarding skills but also because of her charming appearance.
AWESOME!
After the mysterious videos from last weeks with Eero, David & Grilo, many of you have
puzzled about who is the mysterious "New guy" hiding behind Planet Sports Snowboarding
Team.
We are pleased to finally let everybody know:
PLANET SPORTS new team member is X-Games & Dew Tour winner Mr. Awesome, one of
the best snowboarders in the world: Torstein Horgmo.
Welcome Torstein! We are proud to have you on board!
Most world-class snowboarders are either great contest riders or deliver extraordinary video segments to the snowboard community every year. Slovenian Marko Grilc belongs to none of these groups. An ever happy face, he performs both of these tasks with impressive ease and fun. He does not only excel at massive snowboard events worldwide, among them the legendary Air&Style or the X Games, from Davos to Moskow, but he also sets out to shoot an outstanding video part for Burton or Pirate Movie Productions almost every season along the way. And as if this was not to be enough, he still finds time for a Red Bull video shoot here and there, an interview or his personal website www.grilo.si! And all of this is the reason why we are immensely proud and happy to have this hard-working hot-shot all-rounder of a snowboarder on board of the Planet Sports team. To celebrate this, Planet Sports supports his "Grilomentary" premiere in Innsbruck on the 3rd of February.
Although the snow is slow but steadily bowing out of the European mountains, we are still thrilled to let a cat out of the bag at the close of the season which is bigger than a Royal Bengal tiger! No less a figure than "Finnlands finest" aka Eero Ettala will reinforce the already exquisite Planet Sports Snowboard Team from now on. Whether rail or kicker, park or backcountry, the guy from Helsinki ranks on all fields among the overall elite of this planet and amasses titles and awards like others collect parking tickets: 1st X-Games Slopestyle 2010, 1st Toyota Big Air 2009, 1st Freestyle.ch 2006, Transworld Best Video Part of the Year 2005 & 2006 or Transworld Best Jibber of the year 2006 to name but a few. His legendary video part in Mack Dawg's "Follow Me Around" is still deemed as one of the best ever. We are already counting the days until the next winter to admire more of Eero's board tricks.
PLANET SPORTS is hyped to announce the addition of Ethan Morgan to its snowboard team. Welcome Ethan!
Barely eighteen year old Ethan is not only the newest, but also the youngest team member at PLANET SPORTS. However, this half American born in a small place next to Garmisch-Partenkirchen called Mittenwald is a sly old dog: he is not only regarded as the German up and coming young new talent at halfpipe riding, but he already has pull off a whole bunch of shots at Isenseven and Forum as well.
Ethan rides for PLANET SPORTS and, additionally, for Forum, Special Blend, Nike 6.0, Electric, Troyan, Landing
Planet Sports is happy of another new addition to its team: the Peruvian born twenty year old David Bertschinger Karg from Switzerland will bring from now on a fresh breeze to the Planet Sports snowboard team.
David appears currently in the first trailer of Isenseven's new flick, there's more from him on screen the latest at the premiere.
David is sponsored by Planet Sports and, additionally, by Volcom, Bataleon, Smith Optics, Vans, Clast, GummiLove, Rockstar Energy, Flux and KARG Inc.
The PLANET SPORTS team is proud to report on a new female addition; the Planet Sports snowboard team won 28 year old snowboarder Lisa Filzmoser as a new member! From now on, she and Silli Mittermüller will keep the flag flying for the girls in team.
She can count among her biggest achievements hitherto with video parts in Dropstitch, Transfer, Last Winter and Float. Currently, you can watch Lisa in the girl's snowboard movie "Stance" which you can download at http://www.stancemovie.com/
Her positive attitude towards life also becomes noticeable on the mountains: from kicker and rails to backcountry: nothing's impossible for her.
In addition to Planet Sports, also Elan, Helly Hansen, Nikita, Vans, Smith Les Ettes and Dakine sponsor Lisa.
Very recently, up-and-coming Swiss snowboarding hero Colin Frei became a member of the PLANET SPORTS Team and thus, joined forces with athletes such as David Benedek, Wolle Nyvelt and many more high-profile snowboarders.
Colin has achieved public attention and recognition for the first time when he won the Air&Style Quarterpipe Contest in Innsbruck, Austria. Scoring an incredible 6.30 meter BS 540 Inverted Indy Grab, he left renowned star snowboarders like Peetu or Terje way behind.
Last weekend's freestyle Berlin saw Colin thrilling the audience with style and super clean tricks in the qualification runs, which again earned him first place. The following final didn't work out so well for him, however, we are super happy and proud to have this guy on board of our team.
Last April we grabbed our teamriders Fips, David, Colin & Christophe and went to Russia for quite the adventure. We planned to get some epic pow and big mountain lines. But the trip ended with urban snowboarding, lot's of drinking, hot Russian women and an awesome experience. Thanks to Isenseven & Pleasure for supporting it!
Have a look at the official trailer and watch our teamriders Christophe Schmidt, Fips & Tobi Strauss, Marco Smolla and the "swiss connection" Colin Frei & David Bertschinger Karg in the new Isenseven movie "Don't panic".
At the beginning of April 2010 Planet Sports invited some of their teamriders (Fips Strauss, Christophe Schmidt, David Bertschinger Karg and Colin Frei) to Kirovsk - the very north of Russia, accompanied by Isenseven and Pleasure. This trailer is a small foretaste - see the full part in Isenseven's upcoming movie, www.planet-sports.com in September and in the Pleasure.
